About the product
The hydrometer is used to safely leak test gravity sewers and wastewater pipes. It is used together with a hand pump or air compressor and Cherne test and muni balls, and is supplied complete with connection hoses, isolating valve and claw couplings. The equipment is made of stainless steel sheet and has a centimetre-graduated stainless steel profile with a plastic hose that acts as a riser pipe. During testing, pressure is built up with air between the plugs in the pipe, whilst the water column rises in the riser pipe. The hydrometer then acts as a safety valve: if the pressure becomes too high, the water is forced out through the riser pipe and the pressure is relieved. The connection to the compressor is made via a Saunders valve, and the hose to the muni ball is fitted with an adjustable claw coupling.
