Go to old websiteInternal protection system for ductile iron pipes with cement mortar, epoxy seal coat, polyurethane or ceramic epoxy, giving longer service life and better flow.
Internal lining for ductile iron pipes is available in several versions, selected according to the medium in the pipeline. Centrifugally applied cement mortar (CML) is the standard choice for drinking water and gives a smooth, dense surface where the alkaline reaction of the cement passivates the pipe wall and counteracts corrosion, pitting and red water. The cement mortar can be supplemented with an epoxy seal coat. For aggressive wastewater and industrial effluent, polyurethane coating is recommended, which withstands pH 2–14. Ceramic epoxy (ELECTROTUFF) is chosen where the requirements for mechanical strength and chemical resistance are highest. The lining is applied at the factory and maintains flow area and friction coefficient over a long service life, with a Hazen Williams C-value of at least 140 for centrifugally applied cement mortar.
