Long 90° PE bends are used to change direction in pressurised polyethylene pipelines. The bend is injection moulded in PE100 and has a long bend radius, giving a gentler flow transition than a sharp angle. The fitting is welded in place and can be connected either with an electrofusion coupler or by butt fusion against the pipe ends, giving a homogeneous joint in the same material as the pipe. The bends are available for pipe sizes from 20 to 315 mm outside diameter and in two pressure classes, PN16 with SDR11 and PN10 with SDR17, so that the bend can be matched to the pipe series of the pipeline.
