The pipe fixing tool holds the pipe and socket completely still in the correct position during both welding and cooling. The pipe must remain still throughout the entire welding cycle, as even small movements can cause cracking in the weld joint. The tool is clamped over the joint and locks the socket and pipe in perfect position, giving an even and controlled joint. The tools are available for pipes with outside diameter 16–63 mm, with versions adapted for narrower or wider size ranges as well as for long electrofusion couplers. For larger sizes or more demanding jobs, hydraulic tools are available. There are also combined fixing and rounding tools, which both round the pipe and hold it in place, making the process both faster and safer.
