Segment-welded bends are used when a PE pipeline needs to change direction at an angle not covered by a standard bend. The bend is built up from three segments welded together into a finished component with an angle between 31 and 60 degrees, giving gradual changes of direction in pressurised pipelines. The material is PE100RC, a polyethylene grade with enhanced resistance to slow crack growth. The bends are available in sizes from 90 mm to 1000 mm pipe outside diameter and in two pressure class versions, SDR17 and SDR11, so that the bend can be chosen with the same wall thickness as the connecting pipeline. The ends are welded to the connecting PE pipes and pipe fittings.
