Standard connections for single-chamber pipes

The socket connection is a simple male-female connection for pipes with a single chamber. The spigot end is inserted into the socket and compresses a rubber seal, giving a watertight seal. The seal's design includes a hard heel and a softer bulb which ensures that the seal is compressed without being displaced during insertion of the spigot end. The simplicity of the connection, together with its flexibility, allows for angular deflection and a degree of longitudinal retraction without loss of performance. Gaskets are supplied in EPDM or NBR/nitrile depending on the application, allowing the rubber grade to be chosen according to the medium in the pipeline. The connection is not restrained.
